November 7 ( 22 weeks pregnant )

I would be remiss if I forgot to wish my first cousin, Lisa, a happy birthday today! I usually remember birthdays and anniversaries for my immediate family and friends, but I cannot forget Lisa's as she is almost exactly a "duck egg" (decade) older than me. While she is ten years and three days my senior, I will be a gentleman and not reveal her age! hehehe

Today is Jennie's 22nd week of pregnancy. Wow! While the days seem to be flying by now, the protrusion in Jennie's belly is growing ever so slowly. According to BabyCenter.com, our daughter is still less than a pound in weight and less than twelve inches from head to toe.

The Predators (7-7-0) hit the road tonight for their biggest test of the year. Facing the dreaded Detroit Red Wings (11-2-1), tonight's contest should be a difficult match up for Nashville. While Nashville considers Detroit a rival (due to all of the General Motors' employee transplants here in Middle Tennessee from Motown), Detroit has never considered Nashville a threat over the years. Beating the Red Wings can be compared to getting your first kiss; it is bittersweet, but you ache for more and can never get enough!

Should you proof read your child's homework?

Jennie and I continue to narrow our baby name lists. If *she* were born today, we would use a certain name (I could tell you, but I would have to kill you -- hehehe). Hopefully, we will not mutate our list too much more as I really like the name we have decided on. In 120 days or so, we will announce the name we have chosen.

While some people like to keep the baby's sex a secret until birth, we will likewise keep the birth name a secret...

Here are some names we are NOT going to use: Ethel, Buela, Helga, Mildred, Olga, and Zaira. Maybe that helps? :)

This afternoon, Jennie and her mom will trek over to Babies R Us once again to examine the stroller and car seat inventory.

Well, I did not paint the baby room this weekend, but Jennie and I dressed the crib with a bedskirt, mattress cover, and a crib bumper. We still need to get a bassinet mattress and other supplies, but we have agreed to wait until after Christmas. Jennie is going to finish her research on strollers and car seats this week. I imagine she will update the registries before Friday.

Wow! Less than a week to go and I will be 35 years old! Geez, I am getting old... By the time I begin tossing a softball with my daughter, I will have one hand on a cane and one foot in the grave. hehehe

THIS IS HOW I FEEL...

Oh well, nothing new to report. Jennie is doing fine and the baby kicks are increasing.

Until tomorrow,
Dave T.

November 2

Don't forget to roll your clocks back an hour tomorrow night! We will receive an extra hour of sleep as Daylight Savings Time ends for the year. When Daylight Savings Time starts on March 9, 2008, Jennie will be ready to pop!

brrrr... The temperature bottomed out at 38 degrees here in Nashville this morning. Finally, hockey weather! Like a big dummy, I was glued to the tube last night. I watched the Predators shut out the Canucks by a score of 3-0. The game finished around 12:45am CST.

Oh well, I will take a nap with Jennie this evening if I can.

SMILE, IT'S NAPTIME...

Tonight, Jennie attended Yoga class for the first time in a few weeks. As her class was coming to a close, she felt "popcorn" popping (baby kicks) in her tummy during a relaxation pose. Afterwards, she was giddy with excitement as she told me all about it.

According to BabyCenter.com, our little baby carrot (10 1/2 inches long, 3/4 pound) is now kicking approximately 50 times per hour (even while sleeping).

Until tomorrow,

October 31 ( 21 weeks pregnant )

Happy Halloween to everyone!

May you ingest as much chocolate today as you desire.

Jennie's next office visit is scheduled for November 20th (glucose tolerance test, routine ultrasound).

On this day in 1972, my mother was 40 weeks pregnant with me. Little did she know that I would hibernate for 10 more days! I still cringe whenever I see salad spoons... :)

October 30

For her birthday meal, Jennie and I celebrated with "breakfast for dinner". Nothing satisfies quite like a plate full of eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. Now that the days are shorter, I had to rush home from work to salvage sunlight for outdoor chores. After mowing the backyard and spreading "weed and feed" fertilizer, I was spent. Maybe I will paint the baby room this weekend?

Last night after dinner, Jennie felt some kicking while we sat on the couch.

October 29

Happy Birthday to Jennie! She's 34 years old today...

Unfortunately, she has to work late so we will postpone her celebration until later in the week. In fact, maybe we will combine her birthday meal with mine (since my birthday is 12 days from now)?

We spent the weekend cleaning the house and running errands (grocery store, Lowe's, etc). Nothing terribly exciting, I suppose. We bought a gallon of soothing, light green paint for the baby room -- an upcoming project for me.

On Saturday night, we enjoyed a nail-biting, on-the-edge-of-your-seat Predators' victory (hockey game). Last night we stayed up way too late debating baby names -- as we continue to refine our lists, we are now down to approximately 20 different names...

All is well with Jennie.

Friday

October 26

Yesterday was a terrific day! I would be lying if I did not admit I teared up a few times (out of joy and excitement). The sonographer surprised us with a six minute videotape of the ultrasound. I also received several of the little black and white thermal paper photos as well. As soon as I get home tonight, I will post some here.

We had dinner with Jennie's folks last night and all sat around the TV watching the ultrasound video over and over again. Daddyhood is finally starting to feel real to me. I am going to be the papa of a bouncing baby girl!

I better start saving my pennies now for her wedding. And, a shotgun might come in handy once little boys begin showing up around our doorstep. I am looking forward to watching my little princess grow up! She will be absolutely spoiled rotten...

Until tomorrow,
Dave T.
