We are celebrating Daphne's 2 year old birthday tomorrow afternoon! Happy birthday baby girl!

Other than "Daddy-daddy-daddy", Daphne began calling me "Dave" and "Day-bid" this week. Jennie taught Daphne our first names and surprisingly, she's a pretty good little parrot. She even nailed the first names of my parents-in-law: Amy & Barry. She is so proud of herself when she counts to 15 (she still misses a number or two) or correctly identifies all of the colors on a puzzle.

Jennie made thirty monkey-themed cupcakes for Daphne's party. I tried one tonight and they are delicious! My father, stepmother, parents-in-law, Jennie, and I will help Daphne open her gifts around noon tomorrow. I will take tons of pictures to share...

Until tomorrow,

Unusually warm weather has found its way to the middle Tennessee region. I wore a T-shirt and shorts outside on Saturday and needed a light windbreaker at the park on Sunday. Only a week or two ago we had several inches of snowfall.

Daphne will be two years old in one week! We are throwing a very small celebration this year (since we are still selling our house, etc).

I don't want to be a jinx, but four families toured our this weekend. A total of 17 realtor showings have been held since our initial listing in late August. Unfortunately, no one has tendered an offer in nearly 5 months. We are extremely frustrated with the lack of feedback given by those families touring our house. Really? They cannot give any constructive criticism?

Here are some new photos of Daphne helping out in the garden and trying on her new bathing suit:

Daphne had her first 24 hour stomach virus earlier this week. What was it like, you say? Projectile vomit every few hours, a non-existent appetite, and zombie-like behavior. Thankfully, her body fought off the nasty bug within a day. Daphne learned the colorful words, "vomit" and "puke".

Here are a few new photos of Daphne celebrating Valentine's Day with a larger than life balloon:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Daphne surprised us with a new word today: "ticklish". After her nap, we were all acting silly and engaging in some horseplay. Jennie asked Daphne if she had any tickle spots while lightly grazing her belly. "hehehe, I'm ticklish", giggled Daphne.

Last night, Daphne tried her first ever Girl Scout Cookie. She really liked it. "mmmm, cookie delicious", she said.

The 2010 Winter Olympics have begun! As you could have easily guessed, I will be watching lots of world class hockey over the next two weeks. Today, I turned on the TV and Daphne screamed, "Hockey!" Unfortunately, it was the men's ski jump. Pretty much anything on TV is called hockey to Daphne. She emphatically pointed out to me that the announcers had big noses and mouths. I thought she made a great observation. Hopefully, her honesty does not extend to strangers at a restaurant. I can see it now, "Hey Daddy, this lady has a big nose! That man has funny ears!" Oh, brother...

The local weather has forecast more snow for middle Tennessee this weekend. They have predicted 2 to 3 inches of accumulation, but you know that means nothing.

More photos of Daphne coming soon!

"Whatcha' doin' Daddy?" is a phrase I hear all too often and it never gets old. Head tilted slightly, Daphne's big blue eyes lock onto yours and she giggles. "Muff-knee likes cocklit" (Daphne likes chocolate). She was given a handful of plain M&Ms a while back and now she randomly asks for "more cocklit" throughout the day. When your child asks for "cheetos, puck-uhs (pickles), and fur-bert (sherbet)" at breakfast, what do you do? Luckily, our junk food junkie forgets her request when presented with a bowl of oatmeal or a cheese omelet.

"Look Mommy" and "Look Daddy" are phrases commonly heard around the house as well.

Here are some new photos for your enjoyment!

My little girl can now recognize herself in pictures! "Muff-knee is a little baby", says Daphne. "Mirror Daddy, I look at Muff-knee." Daphne insists on primping in front of a mirror while trying on a hat or a new hair bow. Cupping my cheeks in her tiny little hands, Daphne will say, "I like Daddy's beard." I don't have a true beard, but I get severe 5 o'clock shadow every weekend due to laziness...

Three weeks from today, Daphne will be 2 years old! Where does all the time go?

Yesterday, a realtor presented our house to a potential buyer. I hope this 14th suitor is the charm. We are ready to move on and to finally sell this house. No one had inquired about our house since the first week of December, so we were a little shocked Saturday to find out someone wanted to view our home. Maybe they will tender us a nice offer before the end of the week? We will see.

New photos of Daphne coming soon!

Daphne learned about opossums and crows in her Zoo Babies class this week. She created a construction paper possum with glued on cotton balls for my desk at work... Yay!

Remnants of last week's snowfall still remain along the edges of our driveway and all around the house. I haven't bought a snow shovel yet.

Here are some new photos of Daphne's new knit hat:
